Our Journey

Allan’s love affair with reefs began at the tender age of three. After watching Finding Nemo, he realized his animated fishy friends were a reality in his home reef tank. This revelation ignited his adoration and curiosity, leading him to explore the infinite potentials that exist within the world’s coral reefs. His early fascination blossomed into a relentless pursuit of knowledge about reef ecosystems.

By the sixth grade, Allan won his school’s science fair with experiments on lighting intensity and coral growth, foreshadowing a future dedicated to marine science. This early success cemented his scientific and personal passions, propelling him to greater heights.

His unyielding dedication led Allan to Princeton University, where he concentrated in Operations Research and Financial Engineering. There, he authored a groundbreaking thesis on incentivizing land-based coral aquaculture, seamlessly merging his academic pursuits with his lifelong commitment to sustainable reef keeping practices.

Allan’s relentless pursuit in coral aquaculture pushed him to continually innovate and challenge conventional methods. This desire to advance the field led to the creation of the CRT Concoction—a product specifically designed to address the challenges he encountered during his years of aquaculture experience. While initially focused on targeting the nutritional needs of Acropora corals, Allan quickly discovered that the benefits extended to a wide array of coral species. The CRT Concoction not only enhanced coral health but also led to multiple spawning events in his personal aquaculture systems.
This groundbreaking product is revolutionizing coral nutrition and has garnered significant attention, leading to features in multiple popular reefkeeping podcasts and websites.

In the past, working with exclusive sources such as Reef Raft Asia and Two Guys Corals, CRT Reefs has released some of the most sought-after corals onto the reefing scene. Since its inception, we have always strived to separate ourselves from the pack by offering the highest quality products, innovative insights, and consultancy. Our efforts have been pivotal in culturing many of today’s well-known SPS corals, setting new standards in the industry.

Through sustainable aquaculture, Allan aims to both serve avid coral collectors while remaining a humble steward of the world’s precious natural resources.

And as for our name—CRT Reefs—it’s a bit of an inside joke that stuck. Allan was known on reefing forums by his popular username “Coral Reeftank”, which eventually got abbreviated to CRT. Realizing the humor in naming the company Coral Reeftank Reefs (yes, “Reefs” twice!), we embraced it with a smile. It’s a playful nod to our roots in the reefing community and a testament to the passion that drives us.
